Welcome
This page had a born-on date of July 15, 2006. At the time I was an aspiring young college sportswriter. After I graduated, I worked a one-year stint at the Santa Barbara News Press. Sadly, I was no longer able to work there a year later, as the paper was in the process of being run into the ground. I won't dwell on it; if you are curious, just Wikipedia the situation. Just know we weren't allowed to use Wikipedia at the paper because of the article. Of the eight I worked with in sports, two remained there just a year after I was hired.
Anyway, I have since moved to Raleigh, NC, and am possibly setting up for grad school. I am also keeping the site up, for my own amusement, for the amusement of the five regular readers of this site, and on the off chance that someone stumbles upon it and might have work for me. Mostly for the first two.
(Really, check the archives, the sportswriting is more interesting than this welcome message. I just put this here to fill space.)

Final Column
It probably makes me a bad person. But I found it funny that Urban Meyer's daughter's reaction to her father stepping down as coach of the Florida Gators ("We get our daddy back") loosely mirrored the likely reaction of Tiger Wood's girlfriends after hearing that Elin found out about them and was swinging golf clubs at him.
Then again, it turns out Urban really isn't stepping down so maybe Tiger and Elin are not going to split.... ah, who am I kidding.
Four years and that's it. College sportswriting career: over. Wow. So what do you write to wrap it all up? I figured something out...
(cue Borat accent) GREAT SUCCESS! Ok, exageration. Still, check out CrushSports here for a series of videos shot in the Spring of '07
AN UPDATE: REJOICE! (But not for too long: The Final Word)
It's been a couple months, but trust me, I've been busy. Here is my latest Sports-Central article, a Bowl Season preview, plus I've updated the archives. More importantly: I am effectively discontinuing the regular updates on this site to focus on my relatively new site, dullhatchet.blogspot.com. Be forewarned: it is a non-sports site, delving into media and politics. (Note: I am non-partisan, have no ideological biases and treat issues from objective journalistic standards. So the site is kind of unique.) I am still pursuing a career in journalism and am applying to grad school, and my interests, believe it or not, extend well beyond sports. Thanks for checking in on this site. It's been a great outlet for me, as I hope "the hatchet" will be in the future. (I'm still writing for sports-central, and I'm throwing up those monthly articles there along with my other, more regular posts.)
